Check eTA Application Status

Check your Canada eTA application status below to find out if your eTA is still valid, expired or has been denied . A Canada eTA is valid for five years or until the date of your passport expiry, whichever is sooner. You will need to apply for a new eTA if you have received a new passport since your last application. If after several weeks you still have not received a decision on your eTA application, contact our support team. The eTA status can fall into several categories, each indicating a different stage or outcome of the application process. Here are some of the most common status categories:

"Additional Information Required": The application could not be processed with the information provided and additional information or documentation is required. You may receive a message detailing what further details are needed to proceed with your application.

"Application Withdrawn": The application has been withdrawn by the applicant or the authorities. You may need to submit a new application if you wish to travel.

"Authorized": Your eTA application has been approved. You are now authorized to travel to Canada. The eTA is electronically linked to the passport you used in the application.

"Cancelled": This indicates that an eTA that was previously granted has been cancelled due to specific reasons which could range from security concerns to finding out the information provided during the application was false.

"eTA Expired": Your previously approved eTA is now expired. An eTA is usually valid for five years or until your passport expires, whichever comes first.

"Not Authorized": Your application has been denied. You are not authorized to travel to Canada using eTA. If you still wish to travel, you may need to apply for a traditional visa.

"Not Found": If you have just applied for an eTA and your application status is showing as "Not Found", please wait a few hours for the application to process before checking again.

"On Hold": This status may be used for applications that are suspended for reasons such as awaiting the outcome of another visa or immigration process.

"Under Review": Your application is currently being reviewed. This typically means that additional checks are being performed and it might take some time before a decision is made.
